London-based indie film showcase Raindance Film Festival announced today the return of their Dailymotion-backed web series pilot competition, which awards one winner with the opportunity to take their pilot to series with £2,500 budget and access to Dailymotion’s Paris production facilities. The winning pilot will also receive promotion through Dailymotion’s social media and editorial channels and a featured spot on its homepage.
Launched in 2013 as an extension of the Raindance Film Festival, the Raindance Web Fest features web video and web series creators from across Europe. This year’s edition will be held at at the Vue Cinemas in London’s Piccadilly Circus from September 25 to 27.

Dailymotion’s renewed sponsorship of the web fest comes at a time when streaming platforms that rely on user generated content have been looking for ways to cultivate new talent. YouTube and Vimeo have both made commitments to funding original programming from top creators and YouTube’s network of creator spaces continues to provide equipment and training to emerging creators.
