Virtual reality content company HoneyVR announced today the expansion Hive, one of the first networks of 360 degree video content creators, to over 200 active projects.
Founded in early 2015 HoneyVR is creator, aggregator, and distributor of virtual reality and 360 video content across platforms like Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive, Sony Morpheus, and Google Cardboard for Android and iOS. The Hive network of 360 video and CGI artists works across a variety of styles and genres to create a library of VR content for distribution. In addition to 200 active projects, the network boasts over one thousand pending proposals.
With the recent unveiling of 360 TrueView ads on YouTube and the announcement during Susan Wojcicki’s VidCon keynote that YouTube would prioritize both 360 and 3D video during the coming year demand for VR friendly content is likely to climb. Despite the likelihood of increased demand. only a handful of companies, most prominently Jaunt and Vrideo, have emerged to specialize in 360 video content production. This leaves the field wide open for a clearing house like HoneyVR.
