CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” is coming to YouTube Space LA to tape a special edition of the talker airing on Friday, Aug. 21.
The episode will feature appearances by top YouTube stars including Jenna Marbles, Tyler Oakley, Kandee Johnson, The Slow Mo Guys and “Epic Rap Battles of History” creators Lloyd (“Epic Lloyd”) Ahlquist and Peter (“Nice Peter”) Shukoff, as well as up-and-coming digital talent.
“The Late Late Show” will be the first late night talker to record an entire episode at YouTube Space LA. The show dipped its toe into the world of digital influencers in April when it welcomed top YouTuber Grace Helbig, who was promoting the launch of her own talk show, “The Grace Helbig Show,” on E! Entertainment Television. Corden returned the favor by appearing on an installment of her show. (In 2010, Helbig made an uncredited cameo appearance on CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman.”) In June 2014, RocketJump Studios co-founders Freddie Wong and Matthew Arnold guested on TBS’ “Conan” to preview Season 3 of their hit YouTube series “Video Game High School.”
Like his late night competitors Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, Corden has made viral video-friendly segments an integral part of his show. The YouTube channel for “The Late Late Show with James Corden” has grown by double-digit percentages monthly since the show’s debut, and currently boasts more than 871K subscribers and 189M views. Top videos for the channel include “Justin Bieber Carpool Karaoke” (31.8M views), “Iggy Azalea Carpool Karaoke” (9.97M views), and “James Corden and Tom Hanks Act Out Tom’s Filmography” (13.4M views).
In recent months, YouTube Space LA has been increasingly partnering with Hollywood studios and TV networks, hosting Q&A’s with the creative teams behind the Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out” and Fox 2000’s “Paper Towns” and a launch event for Disney XD’s “Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Anything.”
