451 Media Group, the entertainment studio run by director Michael Bay (“Transformers”), announced today that it will launch a digital publishing arm integrating printed graphic novels with digital video content in partnership with Machinima.
451 and Machinima have tapped creators from film, television and mainstream comics to develop titles for the new line of graphic novels, including Scott Rosenberg (“Con Air”), Skip Woods (“Wolverine”), George Pelecanos (“The Wire”), Mark Mallouk (“Black Mass”), Clay McLeod Chapman (“The Avengers”) and Peter and Paul Williams (“The Avengers”).
Visual story telling acumen will be key, because the printed books will pair with digital video content created and hosted by Machinima. The video content will be unlocked using “Touchnode” technology from print tech startup T+ink. The company has developed a line of printing ink that can interact with tables, mobile phones, and other touch screen enabled devices. The pages of the books themselves will be used to reveal exclusive supplemental video.
The full line of new graphic novels from 451 will make their debut at New York Comic Con this fall. The associated video content will have its own premiere on Machinma prior to the event.
