European multi-channnel network Divimove and music publisher Sony/ATV Germany announced today the launch of a global joint publishing co-venture, Divimove Music Publishing.
Founded in 2012 as a multi-channel network working primarily with YouTube video creators, Divimove has since expanded its focus beyond a single platform, while working with digital creators throughout Europe. In January of 2015, Fremantle Media purchased a controlling interest in Divimove, bringing the MCN under the same RTL Group-owned umbrellas along with digital content networks StyleHaul and BroadbandTV and programmatic ad marketer SpotXChange. Divimove’s network includes 1,750 online video creators across Europe with a total reach of 110 million subscribers and an average of 1.4 billion monthly views.
One of DIVIMOVE Music Publishing’s first signings is Spanish YouTube singer/songwriter Yellow Mellow
Sony/ATV was established in 1995 as a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment and the late Michael Jackson. In partnership with EMI Music Publishing, the company owns or manages roughly 3 million copyrights, including the catalogs of well known artists from Leonard Cohen to Kanye West. Divimove Music Publishing partner artists will now have easy access to much of that extensive library.
The new company will focus on collaborations with music artists in exploiting rights and licenses, as well as providing composition and production support. The new venture will leverage Sony’s experience in artists management and Divimove’s expertise in working with digital native consumers and creators. The newly formed publishing group has already signed a handful of digital creators including Spanish YouTuber-turned-singer YellowMellow, singer/songwriter Moritz Garth and rapper Ben Salomo.
