Hulu has picked up its original series “Difficult People” for a second 10-episode season. The half-hour comedy stars Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner (“Billy on the Street”) as a pair of best friends struggling to make it as actors and comics in New York City.
At Hulu’s NewFront presentation in New York in April, Klausner, who also created the series, described “Difficult People” as “a show about two best friends who hate everything in the world besides each other.”
“This is very, very loosely based on our real lives, struggling in comedy and being extremely bitter and blaming everybody but ourselves on our way up,” Klausner said at the time. “Although it is relatable to people that are sick of overly optimistic characters on television,” she added.
Hulu will make the second season of “Difficult People” in collaboration with Universal Cable Productions, and Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions will continue to produce the series in conjunction with Becky’s 3 Arts Entertainment and Jax Media.
The inaugural season of the show premiered on Aug. 5, and Hulu is debuting new episodes old-fashioned network-style every Wednesday.
