Online video rights management and marketing specialists Zefr announced today that it has hired digital advertising vet Tom Furukawa as its head of product.
At Zefr, Furukawa will be tasked with helping evolve Zefr’s offerings and services to meet new audiences and platforms. Among those platforms will likely be Facebook, which recently consulted with Zefr regarding the system it’s developing to identify unauthorized video postings.
Furukawa was the co-founder and CEO of Enstigo, a Los Angeles-based start-up that created a DIY, drag-and-drop mobile ad builder application that enables digital ad agencies and premium publishers to quickly create cross-platform ad units.
Over the past five years, Furukawa has also served as VP of product management for online ad tech firm Rubicon Project, SVP of product management and GM of digital automotive group for Source Interlink Media, and head of monetization for Kelley Blue Book.
From 2005 to 2010, Furukawa was director of global project management for Yahoo, where he was responsible for delivery of display and search advertising solutions supporting partnerships with high-profile partners and thousands of mid-size to small publishers.
