Press release distribution wire service Business Wire has announced the launch of a new news-based online video venture in partnership with Al Roker Entertainment (ARE).
The new partnership will utilize Business Wire’s media analytics and social monitoring tools to identify trending news items within its extensive press release pipeline. With the help of ARE’s digital media team, the trending items can be rapidly converted into engaging video news content. The venture will take Business Wire beyond its historic role servicing journalists and industry professionals with content geared toward a wider audience of business news consumers.
The partnership with Business Wire is the latest dive into experimental digital media for Roker and ARE. The company recently announced the launch of Al Roker Labs, a research concern devoted to cracking the emerging mobile live streaming market and providing influencer analytics to brands and media outlets. Roker has also been active on the digital media event circuit making apperances at a diverse array of conferences and gatherings over the last year, including VidCon, PlayList Live and South by Southwest.
According to a statement, it was at this year’s South by Southwest conference that Roker first encountered Business Wire CEO Cathy Baron Tamraz. The two discussed the possible synergies between Business Wire’s conent pipeline and ARE’s digital video acumen. The format of the new content has yet to be determined, but it is likely to focus on business trends identified by Business Wire’s in house analytics tools.
