Broadcast technology and distribution provider Neulion has announced a new partnership with Euroleague Basketball, Europe’s top tier professional basketball league, to power its now global OTT service, Euroleague TV.
The Euroleauge, comprised of 24 teams in twelve countries, will join a growing array of global sports leagues relying on Neulion’s end-to-end digital video platform solutions for OTT distribution. The broadcaster already bosts the NBA, the NFL and the Premier League as clients. The addition of Euroleague makes Neulion the world’s largest distributor of premium digital basketball content.
Neulion’s experience supporting live digital sports distribution will allow fans to stream the entire Turkish Airlines Euroleague season which kicks off on Oct. 15. Fans will have access to live content from all regular season games, as well as on-demand access to archival footage from the Euroleague’s fifteen years of competitive play.
Interest in live sporting events has been heating up in the digital space. As one of the last examples of “must-watch,” content sports has been a consistent driver of digital attention in a time-shifted media environment. The NFL recently announced a plan to restructure their approach to streaming centered around live content, with a much heftier price tag than previous efforts. Niche sports such as soccer have also propelled interest and investment, for platforms including FuboTV and NGSN.
