Viola Davis took home the prize for Outstanding Actress in a Drama at last night’s “67th Annual Emmy Awards” for her work on ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder.” Now, Netflix fans will have a chance to find out what makes Davis so award-worthy thanks to a deal that will bring the acclaimed drama to Netflix.
Season one episodes of the series will debut on the streaming service in the U.S., Canada and Latin America on Sept. 18, and all remaining and future territories beginning in Q4 2015 or 2016.
Even as streaming outlets increasingly find themselves in competition with major broadcast networks, those same networks have found ways to use viewer streaming habits to synergistically boost new and returning shows. With “How To Get Away With Murder” coming to Netflix, TV viewers whose interest has been piqued by the show’s recent round of awards buzz will have time to catch up in advance of its Sept. 24 season two debut.
Davis stars in the sereis as Analise Keating, a law professor who, along with her students, becomes entangled in a murder plot. It also stars Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Katie Findlay, Aja Naomi, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, Charlie Weber and Liza Weil.
