Whistle Sports Network announced today that it is expanding its European operations with the hiring of Klaas Homan as the new director of partnerships in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Based in Whistle Sports’ London office, Homan will be responsible for acquiring and managing key strategic creators across the regions.
Prior to joining Whistle Sports, Homan (pictured, left) was the founder and managing partner at Robinville Intech, a company that brought technologies and services to the Indian sub-continent. Earlier, he was the co-founder of TheNod.com and senior delivery manager at T-Mobile, where he oversaw such projects as T-Sports and Deutsche Telekom’s pan-European wi-fi infrastructure. He also served as the senior producer at Sportal, where he was responsible for the digital platform for FC Bayern Munich.
“Anyone can be a digital celebrity overnight with today’s technology, but it takes more than a camera and some tricks to capture an active, returning audience,” said Homan in a statement. “With Whistle Sports, I’m excited to expand the community of creators and continue to bring in digital athletes who can genuinely interact with fans and produce content that resonates with the new generation.”
The news follows on the heels of last week’s launch of Whistle Sports’ new social media channel with Britain’s Sky Sports, Soccer AM. Another new hire, Shane O’Brien, will serve as producer and director of the content development and output for the channel. Sky Broadcasting invested $7 million in Whistle Sports in Oct. 2014.
Launched in January 2014, Whistle Sports has more than 300 channel partners across a wide variety of video-enabled platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Vine, Twitter and Instagram.
