Kiliaen Van Rensselaer’s recently launched Insurrection Media announced today a multi-year, exclusive comedy pod deal with Abominable Pictures Founder Jonathan Stern (“Wet Hot American Summer”) and entertainment executive Keith Quinn.
The deal will have Stern and Quinn identifying, developing and producing original comedy series. Insurrection will also have first look rights to any comedy projects developed by Stern and Quinn. Abominable Pictures will provide production services on all resultant projects which will owned and distributed by Insurrection media domestically and overseas. Distribution is expected be a mix of linear and over-the-top digital platforms.

This isn’t the first time Stern and Quinn have collaborated with Van Rensselaer on comedy projects. Both Stern and Quinn were part of Fox’s live-action comedy incubator run by Van Rensselaer. That collaboration resulted in several pilot projects, including “Filthy Sexy Teen$,” which was ordered to full series by Fullscreen.
In a join statement, both Stern and Quinn expressed enthusiasm about the renewed partnership with Van Rensselaer, saying, “Insurrection will provide a unique opportunity for us to incubate projects in an environment that gives our collaborators the chance to present their vision more fully and quickly than traditional development.”
