London-based multi-channel network Rightster announced today that is launching VideoSpring, a searchable video licensing portal for brands, agencies and producers, designed to source trending content for programming and creative campaigns.
It marks a major expansion in the brand space for Rightster, which in the past has partnered with companies such as Procter & Gamble, Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox on their online video campaigns.
VideoSpring will be updated daily with content from around the world, sourced across all major video platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram and Facebook, with a focus on brand-safe videos with proven viewership, ranging from the sublime (e.g. a stop-motion video of a girl growing up) to the ridiculous (e.g. a cat in a shark suit riding a Roomba). All videos will be exclusive to the portal, fully rights-cleared for commercial usage and ready for licensing.
Rightster significantly beefed up its library last year with the acquisition of Viral Spiral Group, which has the exclusive licensing rights to viral hits such as Charlie Bit My Finger and Sneezing Baby Panda.
“The world is creating and sharing more content than ever before,” said Rightster CEO Paul Walker in a statement. “We want to challenge the traditional stock-footage model and help brands leverage content that is already popular and inherently shareable in a digital era where consumers are also creators, and where content consumption online has skyrocketed. Engagement and authenticity are more important than ever for brands and utilising user-generated content provides marketers with a powerful means to tell relatable and culturally relevant stories.”
Founded in 2011, the Rightster network boasts more than 2,500 content owners and 10,500 publishers, managed by global and local teams in 13 offices across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
