Johnson currently boasts 4.8 million followers across her various social media platforms, including over 3.3 million subscribers on YouTube. Her videos, which range from how-to tutorials to her popular series of elaborate transformations, have racked up over 329 million views. Her other credits include a recurring gig as the host of “The Naked Truth” a digital after show that follows GSN’s popular makeup artist reality competition “Skin Wars.” Johnson is also lead beauty editor for Conde Nast’s digital video division Conde Nast Entertainment.
Johnson’s signing with UTA marks her first stint with an agency. The agency will work to create opportunities for Johnson across platforms, including digital distribution, linear television and book publishing. The deal will not impact Johnson’s relationship with CNE.
UTA isn’t alone in expanding its digital roster. The news of Kandee Johnson’s signing comes on the heels of a spate of recent digital entertainment signings from Hollywood talent shops including Creative Artists Agency, William Morris Endeavor and Abrams Artists Agency, who have added digital stars such as FouseyTube, Defy Media, and Brodie Smith to their rosters.
