The theme for Digital Entertainment World (DEW) 2016, scheduled for Feb. 9 to 11 at the Hyatt Century Plaza in Los Angeles, is “Visions of the Future of Entertainment and Technology.” But the first keynote speaker for the conference, announced today, comes at those industries from a sideways perspective — Leslie Berland, EVP of global advertising, marketing & digital partnerships at American Express.
According to Ned Sherman, Digital Media Wire CEO and DEW advisory board chair, that’s kind of the point.
“DEW 2016 is about big ideas driving the intersection of entertainment and technology — from eSports to OTT to VR to Gen Z,” said Sherman (pictured, left) in a statement. “We provide attendees with a single event that brings together cross-industry leaders in entertainment, media, technology and marketing.”
DEW 2016 will include five tracks: Video/TV/Movies; Brands/Advertising, Games/Interactive, Music/Rights and, new this year, Innovation/Startups/Tech. In another departure from previous years, the conference will start on the afternoon of Feb. 9 with major keynote and View from the Top sessions, as well as an opening cocktail reception. On Feb. 10 and 11, there will be two full days offering the entire range of sessions for all of the tracks.
