Insurrection Media has secured a production deal with Skybound Entertainment, the sci-fi and genre focused production company founded by “The Walking Dead”’s Robert Kirkman and David Alpert.
Under the terms of the deal, Insurrection Media will provide resources and support for the Skybound team as they identify and develop promising series in the sci-fi genre, then seek distribution for the resulting programs on OTT and linear television platforms both in the U.S. and abroad.
Launched earlier this year by digital entertainment exec Kiliaen Van Rensselaer with backing from Allen Debevoise’s Third Wave Capital, Insurrection Media describes itself as a talent-friendly digital studio. It specializes in identifying promising talents form the digital entertainment space and providing the resources they need to produce a marketable product. In the months since launch, Insurrection has inked deals with a host of digital and mainstream talents like Abominable Pictures.
Skybound’s David Alpert praised Van Rensselaer’s vision in a statement announcing the deal, saying, “Kiliaen’s philosophy around empowering creators to experiment with resources in a laissez faire environment is very appealing to the team here at Skybound. We’re excited to work with him to demonstrate that we can hatch some world class shows with this approach.”
