SendToNews, the Canadian syndicator of short-form sports video, has expanded its existing deal with MLB Advanced Media, the digital publishing arm of Major League Baseball, to include local media specific syndication of MLB content.
The deal gives SendToNews exclusive rights to digital syndication of MLB game highlights, interviews, top plays, and other MLB-related video for local news websites throughout the United States and Canada. The deal also gives SendToNews access to archival footage from the MLB library and the potential to produce and distribute long-form original programming. The syndicator also gains global rights for the distribution of MLB short-form digital video content.
Kenny Gersh, MLBAM’s EVP Of Business praised the organization’s ongoing relationship with SendToNews in a statement saying, “Expanding our successful partnership with SendtoNews is important to drive targeted reach of baseball across leading online news destinations. SendtoNews’ scale and deep relationships with local media partners continues to help us accomplish this.”
SendToNews specializes in syndicating digital sports content to local news outlets in North America and Europe. In addition to its successful ongoing partnership with the MLB, SendToNews enjoys similar agreements with NASCAR and the PGA Tour among others. Its partnership with Major League Baseball is part of a growing digital expansion on the part of the league. MLBAM has been linked to HBO’s early efforts to build the standalone streaming service that would become HBO Now and last spring reached a deal to distribute exclusive game content via Snapchat.
