Stringr announced today that it is partnering with Getty Images to provide the stock photo agency with content from its network of more than 11,000 videographers around the U.S.
Based in New York, Stringr is a marketplace that allows media organizations to buy video footage from both amateur and professional videographers. Its competitors include Shutterstock, Pond5 and Videoblocks, the latter of which recently struck a deal with to add Discovery Communications footage to its marketplace.
Stringr was founded in 2013 by Lindsay Stewart, a former news producer who’s done stints at Fox News Channel, ABC and Bloomberg News, and Brian McNeill, a former management consultant with Ernst and Young and product manager with Microsoft.
Last month, Stringr announced a $1.5 million round of funding from investors including Matter Ventures, Founder.org and Signia Ventures.
