In yet another attempt to move the video needle, Maker Studios is teaming with one of YouTube’s most successful creators, Felix Kjellberg (PewDiePie), to create a new creator network and media company called Revelmode. In many ways, Revelmode will serve as a mini-MCN and is reminiscent in nature to the early days of Maker Studios in that it will empower creators on YouTube to produce higher quality content and drive community around gaming and pop culture topics. Merchandise, new products, premium video content and philanthropic endeavors are on the docket for Revelmode, according to a release.
To start, Revelmode has formed a group of well-known, gaming-focused creators including CinnamonToastKen (Ken Morrison), CutiePieMarzia (Marzia Bisognin), Dodger (Brooke Lawson), EmmaBlackery (Emma Blackery), JackSepticEye (Sean McLoughlin), Jelly (Jelle van Vucht), Kwebbelkop (Jordi van den Bussche) and Markiplier (Mark Fischbach), who will be the recipients of funding for content and other perks.
PewDiePie climbed to YouTube fame with his gaming commentary and game play videos. Currently reaching over 41.5 million subscribers, the YouTube creator has also released a New York Times bestseller and a top-selling video game of his own, in addition to the various original video and brand-driven projects he’s done.
Maker Studios has consistently worked to build and expand brands separate from the Maker Studios name including Polaris, a gaming platform, and animation site Cartoonium. The company also operates Maker.tv, designed to drive premium video distribution and viewership.
