‘Clerks’ Director Kevin Smith Suits Up for Defy Media’s ‘FatMan on Batman’
“Clerks” director Kevin Smith is bringing a video version of his SMODcast podcast “FatMan on Batman” to YouTube.
The show will feature Smith and Hollywood Reporter senior editor Marc Bernardin discussing the latest in movies, TV and “anything that squeaks in geek.” It is being produced by Defy Media, the company behind such popular digital video properties as Smosh and “Prank It Fwd,” and shot at its Los Angeles studios. New episodes will premiere on Smith’s YouTube channel every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
“FatMan on Batman” is Smith’s second series for Defy. Last fall, he re-teamed with his “Clerks” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” co-star Jason Mewes for “What’s in the Box with Jay and Silent Bob,” an unboxing show available on Defy’s subscription platform ScreenJunkies Plus, which launched in beta in November and officially debuted this week.
A premium version of Defy’s popular ScreenJunkies channel (home to popular shows such as “Honest Trailers” and “Movie Fights”), ScreenJunkies Plus launched with 12 new series, including its first scripted original, “Interns of F.I.E.L.D.”
ScreenJunkies Plus is available on the web and mobile apps for $4.99 a month or $59 for a year, with a free trial at sign-up (three months for the web; one month for mobile). It also offers a Founders Club pack for $99 that includes a one-year subscription with one-year free, a “Movie Fights” home game, and exclusive merchandise including a ScreenJunkies Plus T-shirt and a 11″ x 17″ fan art poster.
