Just when you thought the presidential race couldn’t get more obnoxious, Hulu has announced that it will be unleashing Triumph the Insult Comic Dog’s one-hour election special from Funny Or Die on the world.
Imaginatively titled “Trimph’s Election Special 2016,” it marks Hulu’s first partnership with digital-first production company Funny Or Die. Viewers will be taken from Iowa to New Hampshire to South Carolina by the cigar smoking canine (really, a puppet manned by former “SNL” writer Robert Smigel) in the heat of the primary election season.
Hulu will premiere the special in early February. It will be available via its No Commercials and Limited Commercial subscription plans beginning.
Triumph has already visited a Democratic Debate, a Tea Party Convention, and followed a string of Ted Cruz bus appearances (leading to the headline “Ted Cruz Gets Pooped on by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in New Hampshire”). In addition to crashing campaign events and mocking the press for their thirst for controversy, Triumph will take on hard-hitting issues of concern to voters on each side of the spectrum, according to Hulu.
“A quote? I don’t have time for this shit,” said Triumph in statement.
“Trimph’s Election Special 2016” is executive produced by Smigel, Conan O’Brien, Charlie Siskel, and Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Anna Wenger.
