Start-up Streamup announced today that it has signed an exclusive live streaming deal with YouTube star Jaclyn Glenn, who has racked up more than 390K subscribers and 41.3M views on her channel with videos about social issues and atheism.
“Just a few short years ago, Jaclyn Glenn started uploading videos to the internet and in record time became the world’s most popular female atheist,” said Will Keenan, president of Streamup, in a statement. “But Jaclyn is much more than that, as evidenced by her incredible musical abilities and the spot-on comedic timing in her hilarious sketch videos.”
Glenn might seem like an usual choice for Streamup, given Keenan’s habit of posting weekly spiritual Sunday sermons on his social media profiles, but Keenan said, “Streamup’s global audience provides a big tent for all voices.”
Streamup’s talent tent also includes actor/comedian Andy Milonakis and YouTubers Bria Kam and Chrissy Chambers (a.k.a. BriaAndChrissy), who are known for posting provocative videos such as “Lesbians Touch Penis For The First Time!” (below) and “15 Ways To Know You’re a GAY Teen!”
Streamup debuted on iOS mobile in December, and it is scheduled to soft launch on Android in late Feb./early March. According to the company, the platform currently has more than 20 million monthly active users. Popular categories include talk shows, music, sports, live vlogging and travel.
“Several years ago I began posting videos on YouTube as a fun way to express myself,” said Glenn in a statement. “I had no idea at that time about the vastness of the digital world, or that it was something I could do full time. Will Keenan was one of the first people to believe in me and encourage me to go after my dreams. He signed me to a YouTube network and gave me advice on how to improve my channel and grow my audience.”
