Reeves has committed to appear in several episodes of the comedy, which stars Swedish-born actor Peter Stormare (“Prison Break,” “Fargo”) and top Swedish comic Johan Glans. Currently shooting in Los Angeles, the series will also feature appearances by Vivian Bang, Felisha Cooper, Traci Lords and Eric Roberts. It will premiere exclusively on Viaplay this fall.
Created by Andrew Lowery and Peter Settman, “Swedish Dicks” is set in Downtown Los Angeles. Shot in English (with a little Swedish thrown in for comic effect), the first 10-episode season focuses around Ingmar (Stormare), an ex-stuntman who partners with an ex-deejay named Axel (Glans) to form private detective agency, Swedish Dicks. Reeves will play Tex, a stuntman friend of Ingmar’s whose murder they try to solve. Another plot thread involves a pet cemetery:
Currently shooting in Los Angeles, “Swedish Dicks” is being produced in collaboration with Stormare’s L.A.-based Viking Brothers Entertainment and showrunner Settman’s production company Brain Academy, a division of MTG-owned Nice Entertainment Group.
“The show is a great mix of light and dark humor — both silly and smart comedy which makes it a blast to shoot,” said Settman in a statement. “I think the structure of our show with a case in each episode and a longer mystery throughout the whole season will make it the perfect show for the binge watchers on Viaplay.”
There is no word on what platforms will carry “Swedish Dicks” outside of Nordic countries, but in a statement announcing the Reeves casting, MTG said it is seeing interest from other TV companies and international broadcasters.
