Beauty and lifestyle guru Michelle Phan expands her multi-platform reach with today’s official debut of “Helios: Femina,” her first comic, available to view online on LINE Webtoon.
Originally announced it July 2015 (with the title “The Enchantress”), the comic was scheduled to debut last fall.
The first three chapters are available today online or via the official LINE Webtoon app, available at the Apple App Store and Google Play. New chapters will available every Sunday beginning on March 27.
Told in 26 chapters, “Helios: Femina” is set in a near-future world, where the landscape has been destroyed by technology. It tells the tale of Rhea, a young songstress of divine origin who slowly awakens her true powers, aided by her guardian BeBo (pictured, top), a master alchemist, who must convince her to let him guide her toward her destiny.
“’Helios : Femina’ has been a project many years in the making for me. I actually first came up with the concept when I was a kid, so I’m really excited to finally share the first chapters of my creation.” said Phan in a statement. “It’s going to be amazing to be able to interact with readers with every chapter of Rhea’s story.”
Phan has demonstrated a golden touch as an entrepreneur. In addition to her YouTube channel (8.4M subscribers, 1.238B views), she also has a global lifestyle network, Icon (in partnership with Endemol Beyond), and her own makeup service, Ipsy, which surpassed 1.5 million subscribers last fall.
LINE Webtoon launched worldwide in July 2014. It is a spin-off of a South Korean webtoon platform created in 2004 by Naver, one of the country’s top web search portals. More than 48% of LINE Webtoon users are female.
