Comprised of ten 20-minute episodes, season one of the show features 30 dancers, ages 10–16, competing weekly for a cash prizes. Devon Werkheiser (Nickelodeon’s “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide”) hosts.
Each week, three contestants from around the country will display their own unique freestyle technique and perform routines crafted by choreographer and social media star Matt Steffanina (currently featured in CBS’ “The Amazing Race”; 8M social followers) in a series of solo and group-based challenges. Steffanina will serves as both mentor and judge on the show, alongside an panel of digital stars including Todrick Hall (star of MTV’s “Todrick”; 3.3M social followers), actress/dancer Alyson Stoner ( “Step Up” film franchise; 1.1M-plus social followers) and dancer/choreographer Ladia Yates (Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae).
“We have so many talented kids in our network, we realized our next step was to produce a mobile-first competition series for them,” said Amanda Taylor, CEO of DanceOn, in a statement. “We’ve assembled an incredible group of contestants, some of which dance for the biggest names in music including Katy Perry, Missy Elliott, and Mariah Carey. We’re confident that every week, viewers will be blown away by their undeniable talent and passion.”
As a launch partner for Go90, DanceOne is producing 25 original series for the mobile entertainment platform under the DanceOn Studios banner. Previous DanceOn shows for Go90 include “Every Single Step,” a choreography competition series executive produced by Nigel Lythgoe (Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”) and “Chachi’s World,” a docu-series following dancer and social media star Chachi Gonzales (winner of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”).
