Endemol Shine Group announced today it has officially launched local-language, owned-and-operated AwesomenessTV channels in the U.K., Spain, France, Germany and Brazil via its premium channel network Endemol Beyond.
Endemol Shien Group and AwesomenessTV first announced the partnership in October.
The five-country launch features local language versions of AwesomenessTV formats including “Celebstagram,” “IMO,” “Hey Guys, It’s Meg” (retitled “Workaholly”), featuring Spanish YouTube star Holly Molly, and “Top10 with JennxPenn” (retitled “RonroTOP”), with lifestyle creator Ronro Love and Life Hacks.
AwesomenessTV will also be launching original series featuring local YouTube and social stars are launching in each territory, including non-scripted, topical show “Y Digo Yo” from AwesomenessTV Spain starring Holly Molly, Ronro Love, Kalathras Zone and Aleks Puertolas; “Fashion Detective” featuring lifestyle experts MademoiselleGloria and SoUrbanGirl; the opinion show “Versus” with YouTube creators OmgHarrisonWebb, TheMazziMaz, Jake Boys, Hannah Witton, Ebony Day Music and Emily Canham; and “Passt Nicht, Gibt’s Nicht,” which features fashionistas Diana zur Löwen and Dillan White testing out inventive styles and looks. Since their soft launch, both AwesomenessTV Spain and AwesomenessTV France have racked up over 65,000 subscribers each.
Endemol Shine Group has creative operations in over 30 markets, with a diverse catalog of over 600 titles across scripted and non-scripted genres, along with digital, gaming, and distribution operations. Its IP portfolio includes the shows “Pop Idol”(“American Idol” in the U.S.), “Big Brother,” “Deal or No Deal,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The Biggest Loser “and “Wipeout,” which have been franchised to create regional linear TV versions around the world.
Launched in 2013, Endemol Beyond has local hubs in the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe. Its catalog of digital formats includes “Legends of Gaming,” “Rule’m Sports” and lifestyle brand Icon, which, like Endemol Shine Groups linear TV properties, are also being adapted for markets around the world.
A division of DreamWorks Animation, AwesomenessTV has moved beyond its roots as multi-channel network to become a true multi-platform media company. It has produced the films “Expelled” and “The Smosh Movie,” the latter in partnership with Defy Media, and the live-action Netflix series “Richie Rich” and “Project MC².” It also has the talent management company Big Frame, a record company, Awesomeness Music, and a publishing arm, Awesomeness Ink, as well as a consumer products division that launched the lifestyle brand In Awe of You with Macy’s in February. For YouTube Red, it has produced the feature “Dance Camp” and the upcoming series “Foursome.” Yesterday, it announced it was shooting its third project for YouTube Red, the Awesomeness Films feature “We Love You,” starring Yousef Erakat, a.k.a.fouseyTUBE (8.4 million YouTube subscribers), Viner Lele Pons and actor Justin Dobies (“Dear White People”), on location in South Carolina.
