Indigenous Media has been quite for the last year. That’s because they were stealthily producing and releasing “Sickhouse,” a scripted, made-for-mobile, horror thriller that Indigenous shot in real-time. We’ve seen similar series on Instagram, but tackling long-form content for distribution on new media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram is still uncharted.
According to a release, the feature length project, which stars social media stars Andrea Russett and Sean O’Donnell, follows a group of social media crazed teens into the creepy woods, where things (always) turn into terror. The series was shot and aired over five days from April 29 to May 3, blurring reality and fiction in “The Blair Witch” style. It was seen by millions, say Indigenous Media. The project was so successful that Indigenous will re-release a full-length version of the film on Vimeo on June 1st.
“Thanks to Hannah, Andrea and Sean and the rest of the team who were willing to take a leap of faith and join Indigenous in creating an exciting new storytelling format, Sickhouse has been able to push boundaries and engage audiences in a very visceral way. We’re thrilled to now be able to offer the full version with our partners at Vimeo,” said Jake Avnet, COO, Indigenous Media.
