From her YouTube channel that has over 16 million, to her dedicated digital video destination “Ellentube,” Emmy award-winning star Ellen Degeneres has been among the early adopters of digital video. Ellen is once again doubling down on video with the formation of The Ellen Digital Network and a new straight-to-digital slate of 6 of programs.
And social media stars seem to be at the center of Ellen’s digital video play. Today, she announced “Damn, Daniel Boyz” a series based on the famous Instagram meme by the same name created for Snapchat, a new dance competition series with celeb choreographer tWitch (“Dancing with the Stars”), “She’s Brielle-ient,” which showcases kid genius Brielle Milla, and a development deal with YouTube-famous star Tyler Oakley, pictured left. The Ellen Digital Network will also roll out pseudo-reality-series “Ellen’s Pet Dish”, an animated project that will go behind the scenes on Ellen’s pet fascination at home, and two user-generated clip shows — #MadebyYou and “Epic or Fail.”
All of the shows will take advantage of the already existing presence Ellen has built across the YouTube channel, ellentube, and the destination site for the “The Ellen Show.” While air dates have yet to be announced, the programming will be distributed across these platforms first. The news was announced at the Newfronts in New York where The Ellen Digital Network team revealed cross-platform advertising and branded opportunities.
According to Tubular Labs, The Ellen Show has a cumulative reach to over 131 million fans across all social platforms.
The Ellen Digital Network was established as part of Ellen Digital Ventures, a business collaboration between DeGeneres and Warner Bros. Television Group.
