Hulu Renews ‘The Path,’ ‘Mindy Project,’Launches Doc Arm with The Beatles
So far, Hulu holds the distinction of staging the largest and most star-studded presentation at the NewFronts. Held at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden — not the Madison Square Garden, as frequently noted by the hosts, “Broad City” stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer — it featured appearances by the casts of virtually every one of it shows, including upcoming offerings “Shut Eye,” starring Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland, the limited-run “Chance,” starring Hugh Laurie. At the event, Hulu announced renewals of “The Path” for a second season and “The Mindy Project” for a fifth (and the second on Hulu); the launch of Hulu Documentary Films with Ron Howard’s Beatles doc “Eight Days a Week,” a new election special from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog premiering later this year; and new partnerships with Nielsen and Millward Brown to deliver more efficient measurement tools for advertisers. The VOD service also boasted that its subscriber base has grown 30% year over year and will reach 12 million in the U.S. this month. We had a front and center stage view.
