Lucas Film and Disney Consumer Products Interactive Media (DCPI) have teamed to produce and self-distribute a new variety show around the “Star Wars” franchise. Aptly titled “The Star Wars Show,” the weekly short form series hosted by
Andi Gutierrez (StarWars.com) and Peter Townley (“Merritt Squad”) will recap the latest happenings in the “Star Wars” galaxy. Certain to keep fanboys and girls happy between future installments of the squeezed-for-all-its-worth sci-fi franchise, the show feature special guest stars to discuss exclusive news and stories about Star Wars films, television shows, books, comics, video games, merchandise, toys, fan culture. Exclusive unseen footage, celebrity fanboy testimonials, and other IP surprises will be revealed in the show.
Mickey Capoferri, senior director of content and programming at Lucasfilm said, “The Star Wars Show will be the place for new and old fans to engage with every aspect of the franchise in fun and authentic ways.” The series will air weekly across all “Star Wars”-branded distribution channels including the “Star Wars” YouTube channel, destination site, the iOS and Android apps, Facebook and Twitter.
