Mario Lopez, co-host of the syndicated entertainment news magazine “Extra” and onetime co-star of the sitcom “Save By The Bell,” is joining the Awestruck digital network.
In July, Lopez will launch a personal Awestruck YouTube channel focused on family, food, fitness and faith, featuring appearances by his wife Courtney Lopez and their two young children, Gia and Dominic.
As a man, Lopez might seem a strange choice for Awestruck, a digital lifestyle entertainment brand for millennial moms launched by AwesomenessTV last year, but Sarah Penna, head of Awestruck, thinks otherwise.
“Not only did moms like myself grow up watching him on TV, but he’s a great example of the multi-tasking parent of today,” Penna said in a statement. “He’s balancing this incredible career with strong family values and we’re excited to have him bring his perspective and passion for family to our growing audience of millennial moms.”
In addition to “Extra,” Lopez is also the host of the nationwide iHeartMedia radio shows “On with Mario Lopez” and “iHeartRadio Countdown with Mario Lopez.” He’s also authored several best-selling books, including the autobiography “Just Between Us,” the healthy eating and fitness guides “Extra Lean,” “Extra Lean Family” and “Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness,” and the children’s books “Mud Tacos” and “Mario & Baby Gia,” the latter of which is currently being developed into an animated series.
Lopez joins a lineup of Awestruck Network talent that includes GloZell Green, Molly Sims, Leah Ashley, Nikki Baker, Tammin Sursok Zoe Saldana, Kandee Johnson, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jennifer “JWOWW” Farley and LaToya Forever.
