Gaming-centric multi-platform production company Machinima and Hasbro kicked off the first day of Comic-Con International in San Diego this morning with a panel where they revealed the cast for their upcoming animated digital series “Transformers: Combiner Wars” and gave the crowd a first look at its trailer.
The first chapter in the Transformers Generations Prime Wars Trilogy, the eight-episode “Combiner Wars” series will premiere on Aug. 2 exclusively on Verizon’s Go90 in the U.S. and on various other platforms around the globe.
Created by Eric Calderon (Spike TV’s “Afro Samurai”), George Kristic (“Megas XLR,” “Clone Wars,” “Speed Racer”) and FJ DeSanto (“Constantine,” “The Spirit”), “Transformers: Combiner Wars” has a voice cast that features digital influencers Anna Akana (1.9M followers) as Victorion, Jon Bailey (a.k.a. EpicVoiceGuy, 150K followers) as Optimus Prime, Charlie Guzman (a.k.a. DashieGames, 3.7M followers) as Menasor, Ricky Hayberg (host of the Machinima show “ETC”) as Computron, and Amy Johnson (best known for her work with the production company BatInTheSun) as Maxima.
The series was made with Japanese animation house Tatsunoko, best known for “Speed Racer” and “Gatchaman” (“Battle of the Planets”).
