CNN’s startup digital video network Great Big Story has closed a year-long branded content deal with Genesis, and as a first part of their deal, GBS is launching a new channel — “Origins”. Dedicated to uncovering the history of things across various categories including design and pop culture, Origins debuted today and will take advantage of CNN’s network effect much in the way it’s other video properties — Human Condition, Frontiers, Planet Earth and Flavors — and projects do. The network currently reaches over 10 million users across its destination site, app, and social media channels.
This proves a significant branding benefit to luxury automotive brand Genesis, which is owned by Hyundai, in supporting the development and distribution of editorially-relevant content. The deal, which includes a short film on teh origins of the Korea-based Hyundai, extends to the end of 2017 and marks Great Big Story’s first annual deal of its kind.
“This is a seamless partnership where we have worked with Genesis to align the DNA of the luxury brand with the stunning storytelling from Great Big Story,” said Sunita Rajan, Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales, Asia Pacific, CNN International Commercial.
