With the political cycle hot on the presses, Refinery29 is reigniting its series “Behind the Headlines” with a focus on immigration issues. The series, which will roll out as four episodes about the subject, explores the real people and life scenarios behind the subject.
“In this political landscape we felt it was important to highlight real people behind the headlines that the millennial audience is consuming” Amy Emmerich, Chief Content Officer at Refinery29, told VideoInk.
The series marks the second installment of “Behind the Headlines” and an ongoing mission for Refinery29 to serve as an integral voice not only for the women shaping the future of various issues, but for all readers. For Refinery29, content isn’t created for the sake of having video, but to light up discussion and activate its readership. To do so, the series has integrated a layer of interactivity that allows viewers to not only share the message via social media, but pause the experience to interact with various “cards” in the sequence.
“At Refinery29 it is part of our mission to amplify women’s voices and showcase how they are being represented,” added Emmerich. “By working with a powerful activist such as America Ferrera for Behind The Headlines, we are able to bring these stories to life while leveraging new technology to create an immersive experience for our audience in a non-traditional way.”
