Turner believes they have what it takes to deliver videos that people actually want to watch across social media platforms. And in an effort to make it happen Turner does not only plan to double their resources this year, but they have also promoted Frank Kavilanz to lead the team’s social monetization efforts as senior vice president of Social Strategy and Solutions for Turner Ignite, a unit inside Turner that focuses on content and data solutions to power the next generation of portfolio capabilities for Turner and enhance the ad viewing experience while also driving better ad performance. Kavilanz will oversee Ignite’s ability to deliver content-driven campaigns for brands into social media and beyond.
“Social has become a big part of our branded content partnerships with marketers,” Said Dan Riess, executive vice president of content partnerships and co-head of Turner Ignite. “We’re now creating powerful content for brands and delivering it everywhere we connect with our fans. This requires a sophisticated, data-driven approach — especially in new platforms like social. Frank has a deep understanding of the social landscape, and he has helped get us up to best-in-class in a very short period of time.”
Kavilanz joined Turner in 2015 coming in with a rich background in social and video strategy. And since then has led the development of Turner Ignite’s social distribution capability, called Launchpad, the first-of-its kind product that combines the power of Turner’s premium branded content with real-time social analytics and promotion. Launchpad takes the influential branded content Turner creates for partners, and launches it into social and beyond, using data and insights to maximize a brand’s effectiveness.
Before Turner, Kavilanz was general manager of Partnerships and Revenue at Bedrocket Media Ventures, where he led sales and business development for a portfolio of social video properties. He has also held a variety of leadership roles at NBCUniversal News Group and Disney ABC Television Group within the business development division.
