It’s a race to be the first to crack the VR nut. And the latest eager competitor is Endless Media, an LA-based production company with plans for expanding its business into virtual reality. The new VR-focused production arm — Endless VR — will develop and create narrative-driven projects in the on-trend medium. Scripted and narrative projects in VR have yet to drive meaningful audience though market penetration statistics for VR devices continues to favor the investment in immersive video, despite a lack of viewership (and revenue generation) at present.
“We’re creating an innovative slate of narrative VR projects,” says Najeeb Khuda Founder & CEO of Endless Media. “We want to take the lessons we’ve learned from cinema and craft a new language for VR storytelling. Working with incredible talent and innovative VR creators, we are targeting content that can define a new generation of storytelling.”
And to kickoff Endless VR, the company has produced its first pilot in collaboration with Oculus Studios titled “Growth” and directed by the VR-talented Jeff Nicholas. Nicholas is also the director on Hulu + Live Nation’s VR title “ON STAGE”. The pilot episode, “Hot Yoga” premieres today, March 22nd, on Oculus Video for Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus.
Endless Media is repped by UTA, who handled the deal.
