Forms first-of-its-kind mini-market with select linear TV and digital buyers.
PactUS and Global Online Video Association (GOVA), which formed an alliance back in February to help digital video companies generate more revenue and best business practices, have announced a series of mutually beneficial new initiatives, which include the formation of a first-of-its-kind mini-market with select linear TV and digital buyers.
The new market is part of a plan resulting from a recent meeting among 18 CEOs, chief digital officers and other leaders from across both industries. PactUS, GOVA and premier digital content transactional law firm, Ginsburg Daniels Kallis LLP, held the meeting to provide the top independent TV and digital production companies with greater insight into each other’s businesses. Topics focused on issues surrounding branded content, emerging distribution platforms, alternative financing and rights retention.
“As a creative and democratized market, we need to be stronger and can do that as a group,” said PactUS President David Lyle. “Our primary goals in this area are to improve communication, pursue tax credits and other critical areas of mutual concern, which can only be accomplished collectively through an association like ours.”
In addition to the new market, the partners have agreed to take steps towards forming a closer relationship between the production communities, Google Creative Labs and the Facebook Creative Shop; establishing greater communication channels between the associations’ member companies; exploring emerging international licensing opportunities; and improving the understanding of evolving digital monetization rules and regulations.
“As the lines continue to blur between the linear programming and digital content worlds, our aim is to strengthen the overall production community by promoting growth and profitability, and this is a great first step,” commented Jon Taylor, Executive Director of the Global Online Video Association, whose member companies include Jukin Media, Machinima, Maker Studios, New Form Digital, MiTu and Whistle Sports.
Launched in June 2015, PactUS is an association of independent production companies which helps its members improve their businesses, while GOVA, launched in 2014 is a trade association for the online video industry, promoting growth and profitability through thought leadership, industry working groups and shared business insights.
