Over 40 Stand-Alone Videos and Four New Series to Air on Canadian Lifestyle Site
Earlier this year, Omnia Media, which was acquired by Canadian media company Blue Ant in 2016, announced it would build a new lifestyle brand called Makeful in an effort to carve out a portion of the $60 billion DIY / lifestyle industry. Now, via Makeful, Omnia Media has locked a distribution deal with Canadian channel CBC Life for over 40 new videos and a new upcoming slate of four series.
“Omnia Media has sharpened our focus to producing premium original digital content over the past year, as evidenced by several market leading distribution partnerships,” said David Brown, CEO, Omnia Media. “This robust slate of Makeful videos and our partnership with a leading linear broadcaster, like CBC, speaks to the quality of our original productions.” Omnia Media also recently partnered with YouTube to co-produce “Kings of Atlantis” for YouTube Kids on YouTube Red ealier this year.
Episodes of Makeful’s new series “Sew Boss” hosted by YouTube creator WithWendy, girls guide to power tools “The Drill Down” with YouTube DIY leaders Kelsey MacDermaid and Becky Wright of The Sorry Girls, “Oven Atelier” and “Vegan Eats” were produced in Canada and will air on CBC Lifestyle’s destination site and social channels in Canada and on Makeful’s in the U.S.
The announcement renews Omnia’s commitment to producing original formats and comes as part of an internal expansion to include a digital production arm.
