John Solomon has been named executive vice president of digital video at The Hill, a US political website. Solomon is joining The Hill after working as the chief creative officer at Circa–the relaunched, Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned version.
“Joining The Hill team at this time, when the outlet is seeing just the first fruits of [its] vision, is an incredibly exciting opportunity,” Solomon said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with some of today’s most talented journalists to create a new political genre for the mobile generation, providing unmatched, non-partisan political news and bipartisan shows in the digital formats they love.”
Before joining Circa in 2015, Solomon had been editor and vice president for content and business development at The Washington Times. He had also worked as an investigative correspondent at The Washington Post and had spent twenty years at The Associated Press, in roles that included assistant chief of bureau in Washington.
“We’re very excited to begin this new phase of digital growth with John on board,” said James Finkelstein, chairman of Capitol Hill Publishing Corp, which publishes The Hill, in a statement. The role is a new one for The Hill, as well as for Solomon.
