This Teen Choice Awards pregame will be live-streamed exclusively on YouTube Aug. 13.
YouTube bad boy Jake Paul is making headlines again and its not for making neighborhood trouble. Paul was selected to host the Teen Fest, a three-hour mini music and pop culture festival sponsored by Fox and YouTube. The Teen Choice Awards spinoff event will be live streamed from downtown LA, Aug. 13 and will feature Bea Miller, New Hope Club, PRETTYMUCH, Echosmith, Sleeping with Sirens, STEP, and Hey Violet, as well as a performance from Jake himself with his “Team 10” squad. The festival will also offer a Ferris wheel, carnival games, food trucks, art installations, and a chance for attendees to be features on the Teen Choice broadcast later that day.
“Teen Choice 2017 is the premiere awards show for teens and about teens, and our partnership with YouTube expands this special event into the audience’s digital lives as never before,” said Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials for Fox. “Teen Fest 2017 will get fans around the world excited for the show and elevate the experience for viewers across every platform.”
Also elevating the experience will be Google’s VR180 technology which will live-stream the Teen Choice Red Carpet pre-show. Fans will be able to experience their favorite celebrities’ interviews and all the glamor of the red carpet.
Tara Walpert Levy, vp agency and media sales for Google and YouTube, said she believes Google’s technology will only draw in fans more, making the 2017 Teen Choice Awards particularly special.
“Technologies like VR180 will give YouTube fans around the world an opportunity to experience the red carpet as if they were there.”
Anyone in the Los Angeles area can attend Teen Fest for free on Aug. 13 from 3–6 p.m. PT.
