TRL isn’t the only format being revived with the help of social media stars. Fuse is taking a similar approach with “Trivial Takedown”, a new game show format based on popular UK series “Blink”. And to kick off the 20-episode adaptation, Brittany Furlan, Flula Borg, Kingsley, Omarion, GloZelle, Mamrie Hart, and Timothy Delgatto are among “Trivial Takedown’s” first contestants who will compete head-to-head in music and pop culture trivia. Fuse has also developed a companion mobile game app for fans and viewers to participate in the action.
“With its focus on music and pop culture in the voice of the millennial generation, “Trivial Takedown” is the perfect game show vehicle for Fuse’s expanding slate,” said J-T Ladt, chief content officer for Fuse Media. “Those elements align with our ongoing commitment to create multiplatform content that can continue to live beyond linear programming.”
“Trivial Takedown”, which is set for premiere this fall, is being produced by the team behind “Blink” — Zig Zag Productions. Digital and ancillary content from the series will live on Complex Networks, as part of the strategic relationship and branded syndication deal announced with Fuse last week.
“We are really excited to bring our UK format Blink to a U.S. audience. It’s the most fun you can (legally) have in front of the TV set, with compelling play-along-at-home addictiveness, witty banter and quick-fire pop culture questions,” said Andy Scott, Zig Zag Productions’ head of entertainment.
