The word of OTT Video just got a whole lot more inclusive. World of Wonder (WOW), the creators of Emmy award-winning hits like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Out of Iraq” are launching a new ad-free streaming service, WOW Presents Plus. The $3.99/mo service, which launches today, will curate programming from the company’s acclaimed library of films, TV shows and live events, as well as new original series exclusive to platform.
“As the marginal moves into the mainstream, the time has come for us to curate a platform for our audience with content fans will devour, featuring stars that deserve to be on television round-the-clock,” explained Randy Barbato/Fenton Bailey, co-founder or World of Wonder.
At launch, the platform will be home to nine exclusive original series that include “Bobbin’ Around with Bob the Drag Queen,” a series that features Bob the Drag Queen — winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 — and their “bubbly” assistant Luis as they travel the world; “House of Avalon,” which follows four “party-throwing gay provocateurs” as they move from their small town to a shared house in Hollywood, where they spend their time building their fashion business and dealing with real life challenges like dating; and “Cool Mom with Jinkx Monsoon,” a series that’s centered on Jinkx — RuPaul’s Drag Race season 5 winner — and her 29 year-old gay son as they cover topics such as hooking up, internet slang, and smoking marijuana.
The new platform will also be home to award-winning documentaries and unscripted series that include: “Becoming Chaz,” the Sundance Film Festival film that documents Chaz Bono’s emotional and physical gender transition; “The Last Beekeeper,” an Emmy-Award winning documentary that follows the lives of three commercial beekeepers over the course of one year as they struggle with Colony Collapse Disorder; and “Out of Iraq,” the Emmy award-winning story of two Iraqi men that meet in the middle of war-torn Ramadi in 2004 and must flee or face an honor killing when they fall in love.
Subscribers of the new platform will also receive early access to new content and a “best of” compilation of the most popular programs on World of Wonder’s YouTube channel, including the Emmy-nominated “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked,” “Fashion Photo RuView,” and “Lemme Pick You Up.”
