420TV, the streaming platform known for its focus on cannabis, has given the green light to “In Amsterdam,” a series hosted by model and TV actress Veronica Van Hoogdalem. The 10-episode project follows Hoogdalem as she travels through Amsterdam — one of the worlds most pot-friendly cities — to give an insiders view on the city’s rich cannabis culture.
Shot in 4K, the series is produced by OWNZONES Media Network, the global EntTech OTT company, in partnership with Zoomin Studios, the long-form media production arm of Zoomin.TV, a global publisher of online video content that targets Generation Z viewers.
Jamie Goold has been signed as a director for the series. Goold has produced shows for several international broadcasters including “Fishing Impossible” for BBC Earth, “Combat Dealers” for Discovery, and “Earth’s Wildest Waters—The Big Fish” for BBC 2.
“When social influencers move across platforms – so do their fans. And so do we. We plan to be out on the streets, covering special events to everyday happenings,” expressed Head of Zoomin Studios’ Richard Chambers. “Whether it’s the local Dutch Pot Festival, to nightlife or what’s cooking up in your neighborhood kitchen, we want to produce engaging stories that appeal to the young, curious ‘In Amsterdam’ audience. What MTV was to Gen X and Y is what 420TV will be Gen Z.”
Chambers, an industry veteran, has produced programming for major international broadcasters such as National Geographic, PBS, WNET, Discovery, Animal Planet and the BBC.
“Richard Chambers is a multi-award winning producer/director with over 20 years experience making documentaries all over the world for major international broadcasters,” said OWNZONES Head of Programming Doug Lee. “With Richard’s proven ability to tell amazing stories, Laimis Zelnys producing with the exceptional talents of Jamie Goold and the charismatic Veronica hosting this 4K-shot series, we’re putting everything in place to deliver an engaging, visually stunning and informative entertainment experience to 420TV viewers.”
420TV is expected to launch in January of next year through 420TV.com as well as on iOS and Android (both mobile and tablet) platforms. The platform will feature original, multi-episodic series, long-and short-form news, information and entertainment content, focusing on cannabis’ growing assimilation into today’s culture.
