YouTube is continuing its push into ad-supported original content with “The Super Slow Show,” a new series starring YouTube celebrities The Slow Mo Guys.
The show, which is produced by Rooster Teeth, will run for 12 weeks with new episodes premiering Monday through Thursdays. The new addition, which continues the two YouTube star’s mission of exploring the world from a slow mo point of view, will feature celebrity guests that include Kevin Durant, Tony Hawk, Dylan Sprouse, and Mayim Bialik.
The series joins YouTube’s growing list of ad-supported shows, an initiative the Google-owned company announced last year.
“Five years ago, 85% of all original series were ad-supported. This year, that number has fallen to just over two-thirds,” YouTube’s chief business officer, Robert Kyncl explained when the company announced the push. “So we see these shows as a way for us to partner with [advertisers] to buck this trend.”
Other ad-suppoted titles from YouTube include the Demi Lovato doc “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated;” “Best.Cover.Ever,” a music competition from Ryan Seacrest; and the soon to be released “Training Days,” a soccer themed entertainment show produced by James Corden’s Fulwell 73.
