After locking in a deal that extended its time as the MLB’s presenting sponsor, YouTube TV is again building on its sports marketing strategy in a new deal with the NBA.
Under the new multiyear deal with the National Basketball League, YouTube TV will be the presenting sponsor of the NBA Finals. Additionally, the Google-owned video service will be the presenting partner of finals for the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the NBA G League, the NBA’s minor league teams.
Under the deal, a logo with “Presented by YouTube TV” will be featured during all NBA Finals games, including on the court and in-arena. Additionally, the company will be featured in ABC ad spots and in-game callouts. Branding will also be featured across the NBA’s digital and social-media channels. The length of the new partnership is unknown, but is expected to run through at least 2019.
Earlier this year, YouTube TV inked exclusive streaming deals with two Major League soccer teams –the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Seattle Sounders FC. Additionally, the service added a slew of channels from Turner including NBA TV and MLB Network. Under the deal, YouTube TV subscribers now have access to March Madness NCAA basketball games and nationally televised NBA games. But as a result of the added content, the online TV service increased its subscription cost from $35/mo to $40/mo on March 13.
