Crypt TV, the horror focused digital media company, has raised $6.2 million in series A from past investors Blumhouse Productions, Lerer Hippeau, NBCUniversal & Advancit Capital. This new round brings the company’s total to $10M in investment funding since opening its doors in April 2015.
Crypt TV, which initially focused on making short, one-off, hopefully viral clips for Facebook, will use the capital to continue to serialize its best monster IP, including new seasons of its popular shows “Sunny Family Cult” and “The Look-See.” Started three years ago, the company’s videos average over 100M views per month across its Facebook Show Pages which have over 7.5 million combined fans and its rapidly growing YouTube, which has reached over 575,000 subscribers since Crypt began posting to the platform in August 2017.
With the new investment Crypt TV will also place more focus in creating longer-form content around its most popular monsters as well as creating new IP to join its growing universe. The company will also continue to develop long form content partnerships with studios and networks. Just last fall the Crypt’s “GHOSTED” aired on Oath’s go90.
“Crypt is laser focused on creating iconic monsters like Freddy Krueger that can last for generations. This new round of financing allows us to move freely in responding to fan demand to make more and longer episodes and seasons around monsters our fans love like ‘Sunny Family Cult’ and ‘The Look-See,’ said CEO Jack Davis. “Blumhouse, Lerer Hippeau, Advancit Capital & NBCUniversal have been fantastic partners and I feel fortunate to have investors who believe so deeply in Crypt’s vision of using mobile and social to create iconic IP for millennials and gen Z.”
In addition to beefing up its content offering, Crypt will be adding more members to its growing data & distribution team as the company plans to increase direct to consumer efforts.
