Hugh Laurie (pictured), who most recently starred in two-seasons of Hulu’s “Chance,” is working with the streamer once again. Laurie is set to co-star in “Catch-22,” Hulu’s limited series co-starring and directed by George Clooney.
Written by Luke Davies and David Michôd and based on the Joseph Heller novel, “Catch 22″ is set in Italy during World War II and tells the story of on Capt. John Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier who is upset because the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22, which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty.
Laurie will play the role of Major de Coverley, a squadron executive officer on Pianosa air base. Coverley spends his time pitching horseshoes, listening to jazz music, drinking, and hiring apartments for the officers in every new city the Americans take.
Clooney is set to play the role of Colonel Cathcart and will direct the series alongside Grant Heslov and Ellen Kuras. The series will be executive produce via Smokehouse Pictures alongside Davies and Michôd and Anonymous Content’s Richard Brown and Steve Golin. Kuras is a producer.
