Reeese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, a media company focused on telling female driven stories, is launching a series on Facebook Watch. Presented by Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine — a joint venture between Witherspoon and Otter Media — “Meet My Mom” has been described by Hello Sunshine as “an honest and entertaining chat between your favorite celebrity and their mom.”
The first episode, which premiered today, features Witherspoon and her mom Betty as they drink sweet tea on a porch in Nashville and talk movies, nerds, and sneaking out past curfew.
“As a child, it’s sometimes hard to see your mom as an individual with her own life,” said Witherspoon. “But Meet My Mom is the chance to get to know the real person behind the mom and find out what really makes her tick. I’m excited to bring this concept to the Facebook community and to hear from all of the other wonderful, hard-working moms out there.”
The 5-episode, short-form series will air throughout the month of May and feature other celebrities including Lilly Singh and her mom Malwinder, who talk about what it took her mom to move from India to Canada; Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon and his mom Kelly as she dishes the dirt on raising six exceptional kids, chasing Adam’s Olympic dreams, and the Pyeongchang moment that meant the most to both of them.
“We love celebrating mothers not only as parents but also as women whose wisdom only grows more valuable,” said Charlotte Koh, Head of Digital Media & Programming for Hello Sunshine. “Each duo has their own unique yet relatable story to tell and we think Facebook Watch is the perfect platform for a show about the joy of feeling connected to family.”
Reese Witherspoon now joins the list of celebrities that Facebook has courted to its video platform, which now houses series with stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, George Takei, and Kerry Washington.
