Chip Canter, a former NBCUniversal and Verizon executive, has joined Massive, a specialist UX Vendor for the OTT Industry. Canter, who has a strong history of driving sustainable growth for OTT media companies, comes on as the company’s new Global Chief Revenue Officer. As CRO, his focus will be on leading Massive’s global sales, business development and marketing growth strategy, as well as working closely with the product team on the company’s go-to-market offering.
During his time at NBCUniversal, where he spent more than a decade of his career, Canter held several executive positions, including SVP of Product and Business Development for NBCU’s Digital Distribution Group. Most recently, the industry veteran was General Manager of Verizon’s Digital Entertainment businesses.
The hire follows Massive’s acquisition of several new tier-one broadcaster and telco customers, with a particular focus on the Americas and Asia in 2018. Canter will be based out of Massive’s New York office. Here, he will be involved in the company’s expansion in the US and will bring a valuable blend of broadcast and telco expertise to Massive.
“Few people understand our market landscape and technology environment like Chip does. He has dealt with the pressures faced by OTT businesses and has first-hand experience working with global media companies,” Massive’s CEO, Ron Downey, said. “Chip joins us at a time of great growth and change and there’s no doubt he will prove to be a valuable asset in helping Massive double down on its recent success.”
“The changing media landscape has shown how more targeted personalisation and a platform to drive real time UX changes to drive engagement, customer acquisition, revenue growth and multiple business models, and churn reduction is necessary for making an OTT platform a success, and it’s a challenge that’s going to become all the more difficult in the future,” added Canter. “I’m pleased to be a part of Massive’s journey in working to address that.”
