Overtime, a digital sports network, is launching a new series on Snapchat. “Hype School,” as the mobile-first show has been titled, is the first show the company has launched on the social media app. The first episode goes live today on Snapchat’s Discover Page, with new episodes streaming every Friday.
Overtime’s new series will report on the week’s top high school sports highlights in “a fresh, fast-paced way that speaks to how the Snapchat generation thinks about sports.”
Dan Porter, Overtime’s CEO and co-founder, hopes that by making high school students the star of the show, Snapchatters around the same age will be more inclined to watch.
“Hype School will feel like the young, energetic cousin of the traditional sports wrap-up show,” saidPorter. We want to bring Snapchatters a show where their peers are the stars, and tap into the fun and energy that these athletes bring to the game”
A recent survey carried out by the Pew Research Center, found Snapchat is the most consistently used social media app among teenagers ages 13-17, followed by YouTube and Instagram.
